Clinical Resurfacing or Clinical Peel
Clinical Resurfacing better known as chemical peels treat the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin, to remove debris, dead skin cells, congestion and pigmentation, and increase cellular turnover to reveal more brighter skin. Different to your typical facial, Clinical Resurfacing involves the application of a sophisticated chemical agent, which is absorbed into the skin. Clients who require treatment of complex and moderate-severe skin issues such as ageing including fine lines and wrinkles, melasma, Grade III-IV acne, acne scarring including post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and moderate-severe photodamage are ideal candidates for Clinical Resurfacing treatments.
All Clinical Resurfacing treatments require a skin analysis consultation and skin preparation using an AHA cleanser and vitamin A serum.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS
- Softens fine lines and corrects imperfections.
- Increases cell turnover for clearer, brighter skin.
- A results driven treatment that works deeper in the skin for long lasting effect.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS
You may experience a slight redness which subsides within a few hours. In the few days following the treatment, you may also experience some dryness or light peeling. This is normal as the skin undergoes its regeneration process and is easily covered with makeup.
Due to the ingredients used, this treatment is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED
Your skin will be noticeably brighter, your complexion smoother and fine lines reduced after a single treatment. Best results come from 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY TREATMENT
We start with a thorough cleanse of the face before applying the Peel. The peel stays on for 5-10 minutes to allow the active ingredients to be absorbed into the skin. The peel is then soaked off and a rich moisturiser is applied. The whole treatment takes 30-45 minutes.
IS IT PAINFUL
You may experience a tingling or tightening sensation in the skin, but no pain.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY PEEL
Best results are evident 10 days after the treatment and have a cumulative effect. Your skin will be noticeably smoother, with an improvement in tone and texture.
WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE PRE AND POST
Your skin must be prepped with one of our Vitamin A serums prior to having a Level 2 Peel.
There is no downtime required for a clinical Peel and you can resume normal activities immediately. However you should avoid strenuous exercise and/or swimming for 24 hours.
We always recommend the use of sunscreen to prevent sun damage to the skin. Sunscreen with SPF 30 or above should be used daily. If you are under the sun for prolonged periods of time, sunscreen needs to be reapplied at least once every two hours.
